College Planning

From stressful process to best fit

In our 21st century culture, the run-up to college is one of the most stressful rites of passage that students will undertake. At Howland, Spence & McMillan, our consultants develop a personal relationship (or build upon one already established at an earlier phase of the student’s educational planning) with the college-bound student.

Our goal is to promote self-advocacy skills and a growing self-knowledge in the aspiring college student. The combination of developing skills and insight into self will play a critical role in guiding a successful and meaningful search for the college that will prove to be the right fit for that student’s passions, interests, strengths, and needs.

The student’s growing self-knowledge provides the foundation for our practical guidance through the complex and highly nuanced process of college planning, application, and placement.
